The tagline for my Social LEADia podcast is Celebrating Awesome On and Offline. I began the podcast as a way to continue the conversations I began in my book, Social LEADia: Moving Students from Digital Citizenship to Digital Leadership, where I shine a light on students and teachers who are using technology and social media to make a positive difference in the world. I have had the honour of talking to students and to the teachers who mentor them both in my book and in the podcast. Although during the Covid19 pandemic, I haven’t had many guests I was thinking about my WHY for the podcast when I learned that one of the students I was going to interview suffered a loss of a friend.

I think it is safe to say that we have all been impacted in a negative way by the reality in the world around us. But in that darkness, I have seen many moments of light as well (which I wrote about here). I continue to be amazed by the kindness and generosity of others.

I was so touched that my friend Jessica would take the time to nominate me and that a small business, likely tremendously impacted by the pandemic would be offering an opportunity to brighten someone’s day in such a way.
